Privacy Policy

QuizNotes is a music-theory practice tool for private piano studios, operated by Daniel Tham in British Columbia, Canada. Legal notices can be sent to us at the email address below. This policy is written to align with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

If you have any question about your data, or you want it deleted, email daniel@quiznotes.ca.

We keep this deliberately small. We collect:

• Account details — the name and email address a teacher or student enters when creating an account.
• Quiz attempt history — the quizzes a student takes, their answers, scores, and when they practised. This is what makes progress tracking and reports possible.
• Class membership — which students belong to which teacher's class, so a teacher sees their own roster and no one else's.
• Basic technical data — the login/session cookie needed to keep you signed in. We do not run advertising trackers.

We do not collect payment card numbers. Card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout and never touch QuizNotes (see “Payments” below).

Only to run the product a teacher is paying for: to show a student their progress, to give a teacher a per-category view of their class, and to generate the monthly report a teacher can send to a parent. We do not use your data for anything else.

Many students are minors. A student account is created and enrolled by their teacher, who is expected to have the consent of the student's parent or guardian before adding a child to a class. If you are a teacher, please make sure you have that consent.

A student's data is only ever visible to that student and to their own teacher. It is never shown to other students, other teachers, or the public. A parent or guardian may ask us to see or delete a child's data at any time by emailing daniel@quiznotes.ca.

Studio subscriptions are processed by Stripe. When you subscribe, your card details go straight to Stripe and are never seen or stored by QuizNotes. We keep only what Stripe reports back to us to run your subscription — for example, whether it is active, and when it renews or ends.

We use a small number of established service providers to run QuizNotes. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and storage.
• Vercel — application hosting.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Resend — sending transactional and contact-form email.

Some of these providers may store or process data outside Canada. Where that happens, the data remains protected under this policy and the provider's own commitments.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not run ad networks or behavioural tracking. The only reason we ever touch your data is to run the features described here.

You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete it, at any time. Email daniel@quiznotes.ca and we will action the request within 30 days. Deleting a teacher account also removes the classes, assignments, and student records that belong to it.

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use QuizNotes after a change means you accept the updated policy.
