Terms of Service

These terms are between you and QuizNotes, operated by Daniel Tham as a sole proprietor in British Columbia, Canada. By creating an account or using QuizNotes, you agree to them. If you are using QuizNotes on behalf of a studio, you agree on the studio's behalf.

QuizNotes generates and auto-grades music-theory quizzes for RCM Levels 5 to 8, and gives teachers per-category progress and a monthly parent report. It is a study tool, not a substitute for the official syllabus or your lessons.

QuizNotes is an independent study tool aligned with the RCM Theory Syllabus, 2016 Edition. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or published by The Royal Conservatory of Music.

A teacher account manages classes, assignments, and reports. A student account joins a class with a code, takes assigned quizzes, and sees their own progress. Students never pay. Only the teacher holds a subscription.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for the activity under your account. Tell us right away at daniel@quiznotes.ca if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.

There is one paid plan, Studio: $19 CAD per month or $180 CAD per year, for one teacher and up to 40 students. It includes unlimited classes and assignments, per-category progress, the monthly parent report, and the timed mock exam.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Billing is handled by Stripe; see our Privacy Policy for how payment data is handled.

New teacher accounts get a 14-day free trial of the full Studio plan, with no credit card required. Because there is no card on file, nothing is charged when the trial ends. Your classes, students, and data stay in place, and you can add a subscription whenever you are ready to assign new work.

You can cancel any time from your account. When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops renewing.

You agree not to:

• share your teacher login so people outside your studio can avoid paying;
• resell or redistribute QuizNotes content as your own product;
• try to break, overload, scrape at scale, or reverse-engineer the service, or get around its security;
• upload unlawful content or use QuizNotes to harm or harass anyone.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and will try to give you notice where it is reasonable to do so.

The quizzes, questions, and interface are ours. Your account data — your classes, your students' attempts — remains yours; we only use it to run the service, as set out in the Privacy Policy. RCM, Royal Conservatory of Music, and Celebrate Theory are the marks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe compatibility.

QuizNotes is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any student who uses it will pass an exam. Practice results and the mock exam are study aids, not a prediction of an official RCM result.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to QuizNotes is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law that cannot be waived.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will try to give reasonable notice. Continuing to use QuizNotes after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
